About the Guild

The Victorian Historical & Edged Weapons Guild of Victoria (or Sword Collectors Guild)  was established in 2010 to promote responsible sword ownership and provide a community for collectors and enthusiasts.

Our Mission

The Sword Collectors Guild of Victoria is dedicated to the preservation of historical swords and bladed weapons as cultural artefacts. We promote responsible ownership, education about historical significance, and ensure compliance with Victorian laws regarding weapon ownership.

Our organisation serves as a bridge between collectors, historians, martial artists, and regulatory authorities, creating a balanced approach to sword appreciation that respects both cultural heritage and public safety concerns.

Guild History

Founded in 2004 by a small group of sword collectors and historians, the Guild was created in response to increasing regulation of weapons ownership in Victoria. The founding members recognised the need for a formal organisation that could advocate for the interests of legitimate collectors while working cooperatively with authorities.

Over the decades, we’ve grown from an initial membership of 15 collectors to an organisation with hundreds of members across Victoria. Throughout our history, we’ve maintained positive relationships with regulatory bodies and helped shape policies that allow for responsible sword collecting while addressing public safety concerns.

We believe in preserving historical weapons as cultural artifacts for future generations to study and appreciate.
